Shea butter- Ori  is often used an offering to the spirits. The word shea comes from the Bambara people of Mali’s word for it “Si”. It is made from the fruit of the Shea tree located in West Africa. The creation of the Shea butter is usually a social activity. You will see the Elder woman cracking the nuts alongside the younger girls. The nut is crushed in a mortar and pestle in order to be roasted and cured. Once down, water is used to separate the fat and at this point it is a yellowish color.
